Summary

For over a decade, The Jesus Storybook Bible has been introducing children to God’s wonderful story, and the Savior at the center of that story。 Trusted and treasured for over a decade, with over 3 million copies sold, The Jesus Storybook Bible is the quintessential book for parents, grandparents, pastors, and anyone else who wants to share God’s  Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love with children。

What makes  The Jesus Storybook Bible  different from every other kids’ Bible?

While other kids’ Bibles contain stories from the Old and New Testaments, The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories in the Bible, pointing to Jesus as our Savior。 From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the Story unfolds, children will clearly see that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation—and at the center of their story too。

This is a great supplemental Bible story book, but you wouldn’t want it for your children’s main Bible story book。 It takes a lot of liberties as far as dramatizing different Bible accounts。 But we kind of had fun with that, too, saying, “Is that really what happened? Is that what he said?” and making goofy faces at each other when it was embellishment。 The audiobook was fantastic!!! The narrator was so good!

What a captivating way to introduce children to the Bible in paraphrasing language that brings them into the story。 SO MUCH of scripture is missing, but the stories chosen for this book are ones that paint the story of Jesus and focus on his family line and life。This will be a sweet way to continue teaching my son about Jesus and the Bible through toddlerhood。

Refreshing & convicting。 I started reading this to my daughter and found myself often brought to tears at The Gospel message - it is conveyed so clearly & beautifully in this book。 We just finished the last chapter today and will beginning the first chapter again tomorrow - it will become a favorite in our home。

I highly recommend the ebook w/ narration, if you can find it (I got it from the public library)。 4 stars for the text and illustrations, and ALL the stars for David Suchet’s incredible narration!

Overall, pretty good。 However, in comparison to other good children’s’ Bibles, Lloyd-Jones takes more liberties than others, all in order to tell a more detailed story。 As others have already commented on what those liberties are, I don’t have much more to add。 Good to use, especially when you can clarify。

I love this Bible。 Every time a friend of mine has a kid, I know exactly what to get them。 This quote says it all:“God loves you with a never ending, never giving up, unstopping, always and forever love。"Amen。 I love this Bible。 Every time a friend of mine has a kid, I know exactly what to get them。 This quote says it all:“God loves you with a never ending, never giving up, unstopping, always and forever love。"Amen。 。。。more

Some of the stories are done well, but I'm not thrilled with some of the theology, and it does a disservice to the Hebrew Scriptures to frame literally every story as pointing to Jesus。 They are actually sacred texts that stand in their own faith context。 But anyway。Stylistically, the over capitalization and run-on sentences bothered me greatly, as well as the narrator who sporadically appears with first-person pronouns。 Who is "I"?? So random。 Some of the stories are done well, but I'm not thrilled with some of the theology, and it does a disservice to the Hebrew Scriptures to frame literally every story as pointing to Jesus。 They are actually sacred texts that stand in their own faith context。 But anyway。Stylistically, the over capitalization and run-on sentences bothered me greatly, as well as the narrator who sporadically appears with first-person pronouns。 Who is "I"?? There was much hype about this book。 I didn't love it, but can appreciate it for what it is and what it does。 There are better storybook Bibles to my way of thinking。 There was much hype about this book。 I didn't love it, but can appreciate it for what it is and what it does。 There are better storybook Bibles to my way of thinking。 。。。more

I don't even know how many times I've read this book, but it was great to read straight through aloud to my kids over the last two months。 This is a book for all ages, because even as an adult I am able to know Jesus better by seeing him through the eyes of a child。 I don't even know how many times I've read this book, but it was great to read straight through aloud to my kids over the last two months。 This is a book for all ages, because even as an adult I am able to know Jesus better by seeing him through the eyes of a child。 。。。more

AMAZING!!! As a Catholic I had to alter two sentences to better match with Catholic theology, but other than that it is a wonderful and engaging way to introduce anyone (child or adult) to Scripture and Jesus' saving work。 AMAZING!!! A great tool for engaging toddlers in learning about the Bible。

Wonderful paraphrases of Bible stories for kids。 I particularly appreciated the authors giving a simple connection to Jesus in the Old Testament stories。 The illustrations are rich and full of color。。。 I enjoyed them as well!

Fantastic kids Bible that helps parents tie every bible story to the over arching story of the Bible - the creation Fall, redemption and restoration through Jesus!

Awesome Bible story for kids ages 2 -12! Love this children’s Bible。

I LOVE this children's Bible。 I read it cover to cover with my 4。5 year old over the course of a few weeks and she loved it too。 The language is kid-friendly; the theological concepts are written out in such a way that my daughter was able to grasp the general gist of them without becoming overwhelmed; the illustrations are lovely。 The best part of this Bible, though, is the way each story reinforces the idea of grace and wraps up with a reminder that God loves and cares for us。 If you're on the I LOVE this children's Bible。 I read it cover to cover with my 4。5 year old over the course of a few weeks and she loved it too。 The language is kid-friendly; the theological concepts are written out in such a way that my daughter was able to grasp the general gist of them without becoming overwhelmed; the illustrations are lovely。 The best part of this Bible, though, is the way each story reinforces the idea of grace and wraps up with a reminder that God loves and cares for us。 If you're on the hunt for a good children's Bible, I would highly recommend this one。 。。。more

Incredible!!!Just went through this book with my 5 year old。 His eyes lit up as he understood the concept of God’s plan to rescue us right from the beginning。 I am modifying the presentation for the teenagers in my ministry so they can understand the deep simple truths in here。 Just excellent!

Delightful book for young children to learn about Jesus throughout the Bible。

I love how this book shows how Bible stories reflect the Gospel, rather than the lame morality in most children's Bibles。 If you're coming from sacramental tradition, it's certainly imperfect, but it deals so little with the sacraments that this does not detract from its value。 I love how this book shows how Bible stories reflect the Gospel, rather than the lame morality in most children's Bibles。 If you're coming from sacramental tradition, it's certainly imperfect, but it deals so little with the sacraments that this does not detract from its value。 。。。more

This is a great book for adults and children that tells many well known Bible stories。 Things that could be improved:- Better illustrations。 Instead of having simple illustrations, I think the illustrations should awe children and adults。- More lesser known stories。- The theological presuppositions are fairly good, but there were a few parts I disagreed with on the interpretation。 But I wasn't surprised by this。Even with the flaws, I'd recommend this to parents with children。 However, I'm all fo This is a great book for adults and children that tells many well known Bible stories。 Things that could be improved:- Better illustrations。 Instead of having simple illustrations, I think the illustrations should awe children and adults。- More lesser known stories。- The theological presuppositions are fairly good, but there were a few parts I disagreed with on the interpretation。 But I wasn't surprised by this。Even with the flaws, I'd recommend this to parents with children。 However, I'm all for giving your children the actual stories read from Scripture rather than just teach them summarized versions。 The Bible is rated R and we don't need to water down the stories。 Is there a way to tell the story to make it palatable for a child。。。yes。 But I want them to see the complete picture and full context to encounter Jesus as He reveals Himself to be in His word。 Children's Bible stories have their place。 But don't make them the main food for your children。 Give them the actual feast of the God-breathed words of Jesus in the Scriptures。 。。。more

Such a sweet children’s bible。 I found myself crying often while reading to my Thea girl each night or before nap time。 Reading it again in Spanish。

We have read this book during advent the last few years with our children and then make an ornament to add to the tree。 The kids love it。 It is missing some parts as each kids bible does so it's important to fill in the gaps with the real bible but this is a beautiful kids bible。 We have read this book during advent the last few years with our children and then make an ornament to add to the tree。 The kids love it。 It is missing some parts as each kids bible does so it's important to fill in the gaps with the real bible but this is a beautiful kids bible。 。。。more

My 10-year-old son and I read this great devotional story over the course of a couple months and we both enjoyed it。 It breaks down some stories from the Old Testament and the introduction of Jesus pretty well。 I would definitely recommend it for people who want something for bedtime with your kids。 I plan to reread it with my daughter when she gets a little older。

This was an amazing read。 I loved it。 The story cam through very clearly。

I am absolutely in love with the JSB。 I try to find used copies to buy and gift to unsuspecting friends or mama's to be, because it is a perfect addition to a child's home library。Engaging and sweet, age-appropriate illustrations, a Biblically sound over-arching theme as well as accuracy in the major stories。 Not entirely inclusive, but that's rather difficult to do for the target market audience here, and I appreciated the entire book。What's more, Sally Llyod-Jones has free Lent and Advent devo I am absolutely in love with the JSB。 I try to find used copies to buy and gift to unsuspecting friends or mama's to be, because it is a perfect addition to a child's home library。Engaging and sweet, age-appropriate illustrations, a Biblically sound over-arching theme as well as accuracy in the major stories。 Not entirely inclusive, but that's rather difficult to do for the target market audience here, and I appreciated the entire book。What's more, Sally Llyod-Jones has free Lent and Advent devotions you can do with your child utilizing the JSB。 This isn't an advertisement, I just love this resource that much!My children (11, 7, 2) all look forward to listening to a story out of the JSB over breakfast。 。。。more

This is a really good paraphrase of some of the more well-known Bible stories, pulling it all together in one overarching theme of God's plan and the Gift, in a way children can understand。 It's beautifully illustrated, and has a variety of ethnic groups represented in the pictures, which is refreshing。 This is a really good paraphrase of some of the more well-known Bible stories, pulling it all together in one overarching theme of God's plan and the Gift, in a way children can understand。 It's beautifully illustrated, and has a variety of ethnic groups represented in the pictures, which is refreshing。 。。。more

There are many children's Bibles out there。 Many of them are great, but this one has stolen my heart。 This was the first time I was introduced to the illustrations of Jago and I immediately became a fan。 The stories in this Bible are so well written。 They are not just shortened Biblical stories but they are written in a poetic way that makes the Bible such a beautiful book of stories that children can better grasp with their ever growing minds。This is the best children's Bible I have read and I There are many children's Bibles out there。 Many of them are great, but this one has stolen my heart。 This was the first time I was introduced to the illustrations of Jago and I immediately became a fan。 The stories in this Bible are so well written。 They are not just shortened Biblical stories but they are written in a poetic way that makes the Bible such a beautiful book of stories that children can better grasp with their ever growing minds。This is the best children's Bible I have read and I strongly recommend this for everyone。 。。。more
